The Steam Train
The glorious invention of the 19th Century, the steam Train, hasn’t aged a bit and is still as impressive as back in the day. You’ll discover the Alsatian Ried and the Rhine through a combination between two uncommon and majestic public transits, the steam train and a cruise ship.
The trip begins 2km von Neuf-Brisach, at the train station from Volgelsheim. You’ll take a seat in one of many historical wagons with open platforms, driven by a steam locomotive which was built around 1900. The tracks follow the installations and companies of the Rhine Rive harbor and after a while the train stops at the repair shop where all the historical wagons and locomotives are presented.
This trip brings you to the landing pier called “Sans-Souci”.
Now you get on board of a boat and cruise for 80 minutes over the Rhine. From there you’ll see the gothic cathedral of Breisach, which is from the 13th Century. After that, the steam train will bring you back to the train station in Volgelsheim.
